Lyndon Design drives the transformation at Volkswagen Group UK headquarters

The prestigious head offices of Volkswagen Group UK based in Milton Keynes pay testimony to Lyndon Design’s bespoke design, handcrafted seating capabilities and ability to deliver tailored solutions for corporate office spaces. Several of Lyndon Design’s high-backed Arthur seats provide informal meeting areas and breakout spaces within the recently refurbished building, whilst delivering the ultimate in design prowess and comfortable ergonomics.

Along with several ‘Unifi’ work pods provided by sister-company Boss Design, Lyndon Design has helped to transform the Volkswagen Group UK offices into spectacular corporate surroundings. A total of eight two-seater ‘high back booth’ Arthur sofas from Lyndon Design serve to create breakout spaces that offer a contemporary alternative to the formal business meeting environment.

Arthur’s unusual cushioned high-back provides both a sense of privacy as well as comfort -created by the horizontal panelling and lumber cushion unique to Arthur - and the low, soft seat helps to provoke the current trend for intimacy within corporate meetings. The Arthur sofas have been specified in grey felt upholstery with a red border lining the seat cushions, and feature elegant rectilinear aluminium legs, providing a striking aesthetic.

Lyndon Design’s expertise in handcrafted seating innovation is evident in the design and the finish of the Volkswagen Group UK’s pieces, demonstrating the technical as well as aesthetic triumph of Arthur as an exemplar in creating new relaxed working environments within office spaces.

Nick Fox, Buildings Project Manager at Volkswagen Group UK’s head office comments: “We specified Lyndon Design and Boss Design because we knew they could provide the seating solutions we were eager to achieve to create effective and stunning working environments for our personnel. Lyndon Design showed they have the right skills and experience to marry the design vision with truly high quality delivery.”

Nick goes on to say: “The Arthur high-back booth seating combines an informal feel with a high element of privacy when required. Not only was Lyndon Design capable of replicating our design vision, they were very fast to manufacture the products we wanted.”

Skillfully tailored to harmonise with Volkswagen Group UK’s stylish and minimal office environment, and to meet specific ergonomic and spatial requirements, the Arthur sofas exemplify why Lyndon Design continues to be the favourite of architects and specifiers worldwide.

The Volkswagen Group UK head office is situated in Blakelands, Milton Keynes. Constructed in 1978, the development provides office space for all Volkswagen Group UK staff, managing its five brands: Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi, ŠKODA, SEAT and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
