British Design Shop joins the British Furniture Manufacturers Association

The new online furniture label that unites the artistry of the most talented British designers with the skills of the best local craftsmen and women, British Design Shop (BDS), has joined the British Furniture Manufacturers Association (BFM).

The BFM is a trade association that has represented the interests of the British furniture industry for more than 68 years and is run by members for members and the wider industry.

“To us, British design is all about combining strong British talent, craftsmanship, materials and sustainable practises, to create a truly authentic product, whether it’s the latest in upholstered sofa or sculptural chair designs in wood such as our Lara armchair or Form bar stool,” comments Nick Powell, Managing Director at the BDS. “We have joined the BMF because we want to support and be part of an association that supports British industry. The IT IS Great British Furniture logo will be displayed on our stand at Decorex in September as we feel it is important to increase the awareness of where your products are made. Collectively we have to look after our skilled labour and furniture making skills in Great Britain if we want them to be here for many years to come.”

British Design Shop specialises in the production of beautifully individual, high quality pieces for both members of the public and design professionals. All furniture pieces are shaped by the here and now, bringing distinctive style to everyday living. Buying from the British Design Shop means you are buying authentic British goods direct from the maker, created by skilled local craftsmen, using only the most select materials. And key to everything at the British Design Shop is teamwork, loyalty and a strong sense of decency by looking after their people, playing fair and taking care of the planet.
