Surface Design Show reveals 2018’s most innovative surfaces

For more than 10 years, Surface Design Show has been connecting innovative and exciting materials with an audience of architects, specifiers and designers. Surface Design Show is the only event in the UK that focuses solely on interior and exterior surfaces.

It is the place where industry people immerse themselves in the latest materials for the built environment, gain new insights and network with like-minded designers, architects and suppliers. In 2018 over 200 exhibitors will highlight the very best in surface design.

Returning exhibitors include V4 Wood Flooring, Pintark by Loco Design and Arturo which produces a resin-based flooring system, Arturo provides extremely durable resin flooring in a huge variety of colours in as intricate or abstract as desired. Whilst new exhibitors include SoundSpace, Daedalian Glass and Pixalux. Pixalux will be presenting its range of illuminated shelving which can be chosen from a collection of stunning textured finishes.

Christopher Newton, Director of Surface Design Show, says: “Materials really matter to architects and designers, that’s why Surface Design Show has become such an important source of knowledge and inspiration. It’s not just the variety of materials being displayed by our exhibitors that excite them, it’s also the presentations, the international awards and the displays of the most innovative materials currently available.”

Surface Design Show 2018 will once again have a packed programme of events all designed to inspire and engage. One of the events included will be the opening night debate. Organised in association with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and New London Architecture (NLA), it will highlight the issues facing young Londoners as they seek to become homeowners. RIBA President, Ben Derbyshire, will lead a panel of experts debating the topic ‘A crisis for the next generation – is London just for the wealthy?’ and Peter Murray, Chairman and Co-Founder of NLA, will chair the event which takes place from 18:30 until 19:30 on 6th February.

The ever-popular PechaKucha Evening – Hosted by Phil Coffey of Coffey Architects – takes place on 8th February at 18:30. An informal and fun presentation of inspirational slides, the confirmed line-up includes Hannah Corlett, David Kohn and Jessica Reynolds.

Surface Spotlight Live, which debuted in 2016, is an exciting opportunity for architects and designers to discover the newest and best materials in the industry. The 2018 display will be collectively curated by Trend Expert Sally Angharad, Treniq – an international interiors network – and Colour Hive.
